A Fritch man is dead after a domestic violence situation turned deadly.

On July 7 around 2:30 a.m., Clay County dispatch received a 911 call from a woman. The woman told dispatchers that her husband had a gun.

Deputies were able to locate the caller. Wichita County and Clay County deputies responded.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found an unidentified 39-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds. She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Deputies also found 46-year-old Armando Nava of Fritch with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

An investigation revealed the couple got into an argument in their car and the fight escalated to violence.

Nava physically assaulted the woman before he shot her twice.

After shooting his wife, Nava walked to the back of the car and shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
