An Amarillo Police vehicle was involved in a Tuesday morning collision before 3 am.

An APD officer was driving southbound on Taylor at 10th Avenue when a woman driving a Nissan Altima eastbound on 10th disregarded the red light and struck the officer in his marked patrol unit.

Amarillo Animal Management & Welfare swiftly arrived at the scene, focusing on removing a dog from the grey Nissan Altima involved in the collision.

Both vehicles involved in the accident were subsequently towed from the scene.

Following the collision, both the officer and the driver of the other vehicle were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The female driver, identified as 25-year-old Mariah Bustos was cleared medically, then arrested for DWI and booked into the Potter County Jail.
