The Amarillo Public Library is making strides in closing the digital gap with the Digital Literacy Initiative.

Coordinator of Library Digital Literacy, Maggie Elder, says the mission of the initiative is to provide responsible access from all Amarillo citizens that teaches up-skilling and technical skills.

The initiative is intended to provide training on different skills for all Amarillo citizens, with the goal of providing educational advancements to all demographics through targeted, specific needs .

The Digital Literacy Initiative was made possible by a grant from the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) Act, which will allow the library to purchase 500 Chrome Books.

The program is expected to launch this fall.
