APD Release Name Of Man Who Barricaded Himself Inside Home Thursday

The Amarillo Police Department has released information about the man who caused a standoff with police Thursday.

APD Detectives were following up on information on a possible homicide that occurred inside the city.

This led to an address in the 1700 block of South Monroe Street.

Detectives saw a subject look out a window of the residence but he refused to speak to them. Surveillance was maintained on the home while detectives obtained a search warrant for the property.

A critical incident response was initiated due to the nature of the call and information that the suspect was armed.

37-year-old Matthew Ryan Hubbell eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody.

A deceased person was located inside the home and Hubbell was later booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charge of Murder.  Justice of the Peace Debbie Horn ordered an autopsy on the body and the identity will be released once a positive identification has been made.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit at 378-9468.
