KGNC News pays tribute to Black History Month.

Granville T. Woods (1856- 1910) holds more than 60 patents for inventions.

Some referred to him as the “Black Edison”.

Much of his work focused on the Railroad industry.

N 1887, he patented the synchronous Multiplex Railway Telegraph and this made it possible for stations to communicate with moving trains.

Earlier, he developed a telephony device with combined features of a telephone and telegraph, sending and receiving messages faster.

Wood’s accomplishments are even more impressive because he had no formal education.
