The City of Amarillo has contracted a company to dispose of over 1,000 tons of tires at the city’s landfill.

Donny Hooper, managing director of public works says many clean-up programs have taken pace over the past year, including its pilot program, which combats illegal dumping by supplementing city services with individual contractors. Hooper said the pilot program has generated a multitude of tires, mostly from illegal dumping that has occurred in alleys.
