The City of Amarillo began Budget Workshops for the upcoming fiscal year this Tuesday. Much of day 1 morning’s portion of the meeting was focused on outlining existing General Fund Revenue with ACM/CFO Laura Storrs making presentations to the council.

One of the early pieces of information of note is the Amarillo Civic Center is on track to show a larger net revenue loss than anticipated. Those costs are generally made up by sources like property and/or hotel tax collection.

The largest General Fund Expenditure in the 24/25 Fiscal Year is Public Safety, projected to use just over 40 percent of the proposed budget.

The next Budget Workshop meeting is Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall.
