CORRECTION: Meeting Set To Discuss Friday Morning Shooting.
A CORRECTION ON COMMUNITY MEETING
The Amarillo Branch NAACP and The Amarillo Police Department are not the host of a community meeting set for Sunday to discuss a recent shooting.
The President of the NAACP Branch Floyd Anthony issued this statement: “The Amarillo NAACP supports the efforts of this community event and will be a part of the discussion, reports that the branch is in charge are incorrect. This meeting grew from an organic thought that gun violence of any type or in any community cannot and will not be accepted. The need to have a dialogue to find a solution is an effort of the community, law enforcement, the church, civic and social organizations as well as elected and appointed officials”. To take credit as the only driving force in this event would be disrespectful to the true impetus of the meeting Civic Leader Keith Grays and Pastor Thomas Sands of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
The meeting is Sunday in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church basement at 12:30 p.m. and the public is invited to attend
