Law Enforcement in Dalhart is warning citizens of a phone scam.
Dalhart Police say several residents have reported a caller claiming to be with Social Security telling them there is a warrant for their arrest and that officers are “on their way” unless a payment is made over the phone.
The police advised that the Social Security Administration will never call asking for money over the phone and law enforcement will call about a warrant and come arrest you.
If you receive a call from someone you don’t know, be cautious, never give out personal, bank or credit card information over the phone.
