Dalhart’s Police Department is reminding the community to lock their cars because the area is going through vehicle burglaries of unlocked cars.

Police officials note on social media that valuable items should be removed from the vehicle to prevent burglary.

They detail that “every car burglary has been an unlocked car with valuables left in view or easily accessible inside the car” and not from forced entry of a locked vehicle.

Dalhart Police are asking community members to make sure they lock their valuables up, and if you are a victim of a burglary, the department asked to call dispatch at 806-244-5544 and wait for an officer.
