On June 21, the Supreme Court upheld a federal law that bars anyone subject to a domestic violence restraining order from possessing a firearm.

By a ruling of 8-1, the court ruled that the law does not violate the Constitution’s Second Amendment.

In Amarillo, there is a significant amount of domestic violence where a firearm is used.

In order for this ruling to be constitutional, there has to be a court proceeding where both parties go through a dual process and the court reviews the evidence.

Randall County’s criminal district attorney says In Texas, Class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $4,000, or both jail time and a fine. 

Love goes on to say that this is not a restriction around people who are safe that have firearms, this is a restriction around very dangerous people.
