Greenleaf Sentenced For Killing Kendra Vela

31-year-old Trey Greenleaf has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a pregnant woman in February of 2023.

At that time, Amarillo police were called to the Woodspring Suites on I-40 East where they discovered the body of 31-year-old Kendra Vela, An autopsy would later reveal she had been shot twice in the head.

Greenleaf became a person of interest early in the case as he was in a relationship with Vela. He was located in another Amarillo motel, arrested and taken into custody.

Police found a gun on Greenleaf which was later determined to be the murder weapon. He admitted shooting Vela, but claimed it was in self defense. A claim refuted by witnesses during his trial.
