Man Arrested for Choking Amarillo Police Officer

An Amarillo man was arrested after choking an Amarillo police officer. 

On Sunday night officers were called to the 8200 block of Laredo Trail on the report of a domestic violence dispute and a man with a gun.

Authorities say Patrick Smith allegedly assaulted a woman inside of the residence.

Smith then got into a physical altercation with a responding officer and choked the officer by the throat. 

The officer used a taser to subdue Smith and take him into custody.

Smith was arrested for Evading Arrest, Assault on a Public Servant, and Resisting Arrest. He was booked into the Randall County Jail.
