Man Killed Crossing I-40

A Florida man is dead after being hit by a vehicle Monday morning on I-40.

The Amarillo Police Department was called to the 8000 block of West I-40,  a little at 9:20 a.m. 

There they found 28-year-old Courtney Jesse Pompey of Ocala Florida with life-threatening injuries.

A 2019 Kenworth pulling a loaded flatbed trailer, driven by a 50-year-old El Paso man was changing lanes from the right lane to the center lane and hit the pedestrian. as he walked in front of the truck.

 A female driver of another truck witnessed the accident and stopped to render aid.

Pompey was taken to the hospital and later died.

The driver of the semi was uninjured, and the Traffic Investigation Squad of APD is investigating the incident.
