During Wednesday morning’s work session involving the Amarillo City Council and the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, its president Kevin Carter, and Board of Directors, Mayor Cole Stanley made clear when it came to The RANGE, its formation, his vote was changed.

Specifically, Mayor Stanley was addressing his vote as a council member at that time to approve the initial ask of $100,000 dollars. Said Stanley, “My vote was changed, and that’s my issue.” He later added, “I voted for the $100,000 membership, and you guys changed my vote.”

Mayor Stanley pointed out, though it may be good for Amarillo and the Panhandle, The RANGE (Regional Accelerator and New Growth Engine) is not set up properly without the support of the City Council, often referred to as the AEDC’s ‘Authorizing Unit.’

That meeting began with a presentation from Chuck Sexton of The Next Move Group, consultant to the AEDC.
