One Person Dead And Two Injured In Wreck On New Year’s Eve
One person has died and two others have serious injuries after a semi crashed into another near Shamrock.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says at 12:15 p.m., 41-year-old Peter Smith, of Clifton Springs, New York, was driving east in a 2020 Freightliner on Interstate 40, about four miles east of Shamrock.
The vehicle crossed the center median and traveled into the eastbound lanes, striking a 2014 Kenworth driven by 48-year-old Alan Andrascik (AND-DRA-SICK) of Pennsylvania.
The front seat area of Smith’s rig was crushed during the wreck and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger 25-year-old Darrien Quagliata(female) (QUAK-GA LEE AH-TA) also from New York, was in the sleeper berth received serious injuries and was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital.
The 2nd driver was Transported to Shamrock General Hospital with minor injuries.
This crash remains under investigation
