Former Perryton ISD coach Cole Underwood has been charged after being of having a sexual relationship with a child.

U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton says the 29-year-old Underwood was charged with enticement of a 15-year-old after a criminal complaint.

Underwood made his first appearance in court June 6th.

The complaint points out that Perryton ISD’s superintendent contacted law enforcement on May 7 to report a possible inappropriate relationship between Underwood and a female student.

Surveillance video showed Underwood propping a door open and shutting off lights; 15 minutes later, the girl entered the darkened building and walked into Underwood’s office.

The child said Underwood had sex with her in his office over a dozen times between February and May in interviews with law enforcement.

The child says she added Underwood to Snapchat, and he started a personal relationship with her; inviting her into his office.

Underwood is then said to have messaged her in a sexual manner.

Police searched the girl’s cell phone and found several late night conversations, including one that lasted six hours.

Underwood could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted.
