High school students will have the option to gain a real-world certification through the Randall County Sheriff’s Office.

This will be the first time in Texas.

CISD seniors will be able to join the RCSO Student Academy for a new law enforcement program during their spring semester and become licensed jailers.

The partnership between RCSO,CISD, and the Texas  Commission on Law Enforcement enables CISD students to achieve their basic county corrections certification.

Under the program students just out of high school will be able to jump into a career path, and not just a job when they graduate.

The jail certification course is a state licensing course and is done through a partnership with Amarillo College.

There are currently two CISD students in the program and are on track to be certified and employment-ready upon their high school graduation in May.
