A pregnant woman and her 6-year-old son are dead after a teenager hit them at a high rate of speed.

The Amarillo Police Department says Friday at 7:35 p.m., officers were sent to a major crash at the intersection of West Amarillo Blvd and North Florida Street.

There they discovered a 2013 Chevy Camaro driven by 19-year-old Abdurahman Garang Hussein, heading eastbound at a high rate of speed in the inside lane of West Amarillo Blvd. approaching North Florida.

A 2004 Honda Accord driven by 26-year-old Rocio Castejon, was driving northbound on Florida Street.

Castejon pulled out from a stop sign but stopped, just in the outside lane of West Amarillo Blvd, when she saw the oncoming Camaro.

Hussein failed to maintain a single lane and slammed into the Honda.

Rosio Castejon, her unborn child, and her 6-year-old son were killed as a result of the collision.

APD says alcohol and speed are contributing factors.

Hussein was booked into Potter County Sheriff’s Office Jail on 3 charges of Manslaughter and Potter County Justice of the Peace Robert Taylor has ordered autopsies on the deceased.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
