State Loop335 Project Complete

A $100,000,000 project on State Loop (SL) 335 is complete.

The project will help relieve traffic off of highways and offer a safe route of transportation around the city of Amarillo, by making the Loop, a Beltway.

TxDOT says the first phase of the southwest portion of the lop plays an important part in this goal.

The original concept of SL 335 had the southwest segment run through Soncy Road.

 TxDOT Amarillo District public -information officer Jason Britsch, says after several studies and public input, it was deemed that it wouldn’t be feasible enough for traffic to free flow through there and it also went against one of the core concepts of the SL, which is alleviating traffic off our interstate and major roads

The new road crosses over the east side of the Amarillo Helium Plant just north of the I-40 and SL 335 interchange.
