(Amarillo, Texas) – The Sod Poodles won their third straight game Wednesday night in front of 5,578 at HODGETOWN courtesy of two late-inning home runs from A.J. Kennedy and Edward Olivares. Both home runs were part of a four-hit, three-run seventh inning. Amarillo is now five games ahead of the second-place Corpus Christi Hooks in the second half South Division standings with 18 regular-season games remaining. The Sod Poodles wrap-up their four-game series with the RockHound tonight at HODGETOWN. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Rangers Bash Blue Jays, Avoid Sweep
(Toronto, Ontario) — Danny Santana homered and drove in three as the Rangers bashed the Blue Jays 7-3 in Toronto. Nomar Mazara also went deep, while Elvis Andrus added four hits and two RBI for Texas, which avoided a three-game sweep. Kolby Allard pitched three-run ball into the sixth inning for his second career win.

White Sox Out Score Astros
(Chicago, IL) — Yuli Gurriel homered twice, but it was not enough as the Astros lost 13-9 to the White Sox in Chicago. James McCann’s grand slam in the eighth inning broke a nine-all tie. Jose Altuve hit a game-tying two-run homer in the top of the eighth for Houston, which has dropped three-of-four on the heels of an eight-game winning streak. Ryan Pressly took the loss.
Astros’ Cole Gets Good News On Hamstring
(Chicago, IL) — The Houston Astros are breathing a sigh of relief after getting good news on injured pitcher Gerrit Cole. Cole says his sore hamstring isn’t very serious and he’s considered day-to-day. He added he will receive treatment and rest with the hopes of returning to the rotation soon. Cole was scratched late from his scheduled start on Tuesday in Chicago with right hamstring soreness. He says it’s not been decided yet if he will make his Monday start against Detroit. Cole is 14-and-5 with a 2.87 ERA and a MLB-best 226 strikeouts this season.
