Thursday Sports Update – Zeke Happy To Be Back With Cowboys
(Frisco, TX) — Ezekiel Elliott is back with the Dallas Cowboys after signing the richest contract for a running back in the NFL. Elliott held out of training camp and the preseason as he demanded a new contract. Multiple outlets report the 24-year-old signed a 103-million dollar contract over eight years, with 50-million guaranteed. He is the first Cowboy to top 100-million dollars in total salary. Elliott had two years remaining on his rookie contract, but the new deal keeps him in Dallas through at least the 2026 season. He led the league in rushing in two of his first three years. Elliot practiced after signing and is expected to play in the Cowboys’ opener Sunday against the Giants.
Texans Preparing For Saints
(Houston, TX) — The Texans are preparing for their season opener against the Saints on Monday night in New Orleans. Houston won the AFC South last year with an 11-and-4 record, but lost to the Colts in the first-round of the playoffs. (Amarillo, Texas) – The Sod Poodles dropped game one of the Texas League South Division Championship Series by a final score of 8-3 in front of 5,193 at HODGETOWN. Hudson Potts and Taylor Kohlwey led the Sod Poodles offensively, each going 2-for-4. Potts collected the first postseason home run in franchise history while Kohlwey totaled two doubles on the night.
