52-year-old James Mark Bishop of Tulia has been sentenced to 30 years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Correction for child abuse violations in Swisher County.

August 28, Bishop pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and sexual performance of a child. Those charges stem from abusing his then 12-year-old niece in 2018.

At the time, Bishop was a convicted sex offender in Oklahoma, living in Tulia while abusing the family member and soliciting child pornography.

Shortly being revoked in Oklahoma, Bishop fled Texas, only to be captured in Oregon about a year later. He was returned to Texas in 2022.

In addition to his recent sentence, Bishop also has sentences in Oklahoma of 33 years, and a 10 year federal penitentiary sentence for failing to register as a sex offender in 2022.
