(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks gave up 48 points in the third period and trailed by as many as 39 in a 133-104 loss to the Suns in Dallas. Luke Doncic led Dallas with 21 points. Reserves J.J. Barea and Jalen Brunson each scored 15 points in defeat. Dallas has lost three of its last five and will play Friday in Houston.

Harden, Capela Questionable For Game Tonight
(Portland, OR) — James Harden and Clint Capela are listed as questionable to play tonight for the Rockets, who conclude a four-game trip in Portland. Harden has missed the last two games with a left thigh bruise. Capela has missed four games the past month, including the Monday win at Utah, with a right heel contusion. Houston is 3-and-1 in its last four games and will return home Friday to host Dallas.
Stars Home Tonight Against Maple Leafs
(Dallas, TX) — The Stars will host the Maple Leafs tonight. Dallas is coming off a 3-2 overtime win Monday over the Lightning. The Stars are 28-17-and-4 sitting at third place in the Central Division. Toronto won 5-2 Monday in Nashville and is 26-17-and-7, fourth in the Atlantic Division. The Stars will go on the road Saturday for three games at the Devils, Islanders and Rangers to start February.

Super Bowl 54 Approaching Quickly
(Miami, FL) — Super Bowl 54 is just days away from kicking off at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The San Francisco 49ers clash with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Niners are chasing the sixth Super Bowl title in franchise history, which would tie the league record for most all-time. The Chiefs are playing in their first Super Bowl in 50 years and are seeking the second title in team history.
Prescott Confident Longterm Contract Will Get Done
(Undated) — Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott told NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport he is confident a multi-year contract will be worked out with the team. The free agency period starts in less than two months. Dallas could franchise-tag Prescott before the March 10th deadline if unable to work out a deal. Prescott did not give a time frame on getting a contract finalized, saying he would leave that to the team and his agents.
Texans Give O’Brien GM Title
(Houston, TX) — The Texans have added general manager to head coach Bill O’Brien’s title. The Texans fired GM Brian Gaine last June with the plan to hire Patriots vice-president Nick Caserio. Those plans fell apart when the Patriots filed a tampering charge. The Texans also elevated Jack Easterby to executive vice-president of football operations. In their first season together, the Texans won 10 games, won the AFC South for the second consecutive season and defeated the Bills in the first round of the postseason. Romeo Crennel is expected to remain on the Houston coaching staff in an advisory capacity after being replaced by Anthony Weaver as the defensive coordinator.
Report: Baker To Be Next Astros’ Manager
(Houston, TX) — Multiple-outlets report Dusty Baker is finalizing a contract to become the Astros’ manager. At 70, Baker would be the oldest manager in the majors. He has managed 22 years in the majors with the Giants, Cubs, Reds and Nationals. Baker last managed in 2017. He would replace A.J. Hinch, who was fired after the Houston sign-stealing scandal.
