18-Year-Old Dead After Traffic Accident Thursday Morning

One person has died after an accident that took place Thursday morning.

Around 8:22, Amarillo Police were called out to the overpass in the 400 block of southwest 34th avenue where 18-year-old Evelyn Jasmine Rios was driving west and lost control of her car causing her to slide into oncoming traffic.

A 17-year-old driver in another vehicle was taken to a local hospital with what is believed to be life-threatening injuries.

Rios was pronounced dead at the scene and police say speed and black ice are factors in this crash.

The incident is under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
