The Amarillo City Council has approved a 71-million-dollar award to start the Amarillo Northeast Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Project.

Phase One of the installation of approximately 13 miles of proposed sanitary sewer pipe and the abandonment of an Imhoff tank and lift station.

City of Amarillo officials say the  line starts at Highway 60 out north by the airport in the proximity of that, and that gravity flows out to the River Road plant that’s located just north of Amarillo,

The project is aimed at benefiting all sectors of Amarillo and will open up all sectors of the city for growth.

Funding is made possible through water and sewer revenue bonds. Phase one is set to be complete in 2025
