The United States  Department of Labor has recouped  $52,500 in back wages for workers with disabilities from ADVO.

A news release from the department’s Wage and Hour Division says ADVO violated federal law when they failed to pay 134 workers with disabilities the required prevailing wage rate.

It’s also claimed the company failed to provide workers 24 and younger with pre-employment transition and vocational rehabilitation services and failed to ensure all workers were provided with career counseling, referrals, and training opportunities required by Section 511 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Wage and Hour Division officials say employers must comply with federal regulations and pay workers with disabilities at the proper rate for all the hours they work.

ADVO has been in business providing rehabilitation and vocational training services to adults with developmental and physical disabilities since 1991
