As the end of the school year is approaching, it’s still never too late to recognize the amazing work that educators put into their craft daily.

Mrs. Baird’s and United Supermarkets have made their rounds across the community and have put together their winners for both April and May’s Teachers on the Rise.

One recipient in particular from this recent group is Amarillo High’s Maria Villanueva, a Spanish teacher at AHS who has shown amazing bits of love and dedication to her work and her students.

Surprised by receiving this honor at the High School level, Villanueva says she appreciates hearing such kind words from her students, and further validates the impact she makes each day.

Villanueva joins Michael Rountree and Krista Turner from Spearman ISD, Stephanie Dixon from West Central Elementary in Hereford, and Bobi Wood and Sarah Stoker from Bonham Middle School as winners from May.
