Amarillo AEDC Holds 2nd Annual State of the Economy

Officials with the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation held their 2 annual State of the Economy event Wednesday to showcase growth in the area.

President and CEO of AEDC spoke to attendees and stated that Amarillo has seen a study but moderate economic growth in 2019 and an estimated 860 jobs were added in 2019.

Kevin Carter also talked about how they plan to bring more jobs to the community.


The AEDC also stated that unemployment rates in Amarillo are near 2.5% which is the lowest it’s been since the 1970s and is 1% below the national average.

The unemployment rates in Randall County is now 2.3% just below Potter County at 2.6%. 

For all of 2019, there was a $165 Million estimated rise in total metro farm earnings which is a 15.2% gain.

In 2020 there is an anticipated 3% growth in personal income projected for Amarillo.
