Amarillo Councilmembers Approve Next Phase Of The Community Investment Plan

During the Tuesday Amarillo City Council meeting, Members heard the first reading of the next phase of the 2021/2022 through 2025/2026 5 year Community Investment Plan.
Director of Capital Projects & Development Engineering Kyle Schniederjan says this Program outlines investments the City intends to make over the next five years in interests including transportation, public facilities, public safety, utilities, and information technology.
Phase 1 of the plan was to adopt the Capital Investment Program for that current fiscal year through the annual budget ordinance.
Kyle also talks about why cities should invest in programs like the CIP.
Some of the big projects that the CIP will cover this year include park improvements and improving the infrastructure of the City Water Towers.
Funding for the Program will come from general Funding, Enterprise Funding, Internal Services funds and other General Obligation Bonds, Revenue Bonds, Certificates of Obligation, Grants and Tax Notes.
