The Amarillo Emergency Communications Center celebrated its 10 year anniversary on Friday.

The Communications Center takes all 911 calls and dispatches the appropriate services for an emergency call.

Captian Jeremy Hill the Comanager of the 911 Center talked about the rewards that have come from the hard work that has been put in over the past 10 years.

“Before we consolidated they would take a call and have to figure out if it was a fire call and shift it over to the central fire station, or if it was a medical call they would shift it over to North West Texas Hospital. Now with us being in the same room and same department, it has cut down on response time and eliminated confusion”, said Hill.

Department heads were also in attendance to take part in the celebration.
