Amarillo Man Arrested in Lubbock Area After Multi-County Chase And Standoff

An Amarillo man is behind bars after a police chase and standoff in Crosby County on Wednesday afternoon.

Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle  41-year-old Christopher Tafoya, of Amarillo, was driving at 2 p.m. in Lubbock County.

Tafoya refused to stop and led law enforcement on a chase through Lubbock, Floyd, Hale, and Crosby counties.

At 3:15 p.m. the suspect stopped the vehicle in the 900 block of Farm to Market 651, north of Crosbyton and ran inside an abandoned home.

Authorities surrounded the property along with a K-9 and his handler and the  DPS helicopter was called in as a perimeter was set up.

A  SWAT team from Lubbock and multiple agency deputies took the suspect into custody at 5:40 p.m. 

Tafoya was arrested for a parole violation and evading arrest in a vehicle.
