Amarillo Status Elevated After 2 Cases Confirmed

The first local cases of COVID-19 in Amarillo were confirmed by Mayor Nelson during a press conference around 7:30 PM today (March 18th, 2020).

According to Amarillo’s status level chart, we are now moving from “Yellow” to “Orange”.  This means we are at the point where we are living in an area where cases of the respiratory illness, COVID-19, have been confirmed by medical personnel.

Here at WE 102.9 we continue to ask that everyone cooperate with requests to maintain social distancing.  Don’t gather in groups of more than 10 people.  Wash your hands well and frequently.

Please check on your elderly neighbors and people who may be alone, or those who rely on social programs for their normal quality of life. And maintain our friendly Panhandle attitude of caring for one another and cooperating to make this a healthy happy place to live, work, worship and raise our children.

Together, WE will get through this!
