Another Spill at HRWTF

Yet another spill at the troubled Hollywood Road Wastewater Treatment Facility.
This one occurred just after 11 p.m. Monday and was contained at 4 a.m. Tuesday. The city reports this spill involved almost 225 thousand gallons of partially treated wastewater into Play Lake 40 which is located on the property.
This marks the fourth such spill in less than four weeks and the total amount of partially treated spillage now exceeds more than one million gallons.
Within the past two weeks, the City of Amarillo issued statements noting the woes of this facility go back decades, adding much of the equipment used and failing is so old it is no longer being manufactured which forces the purchase of refurbished parts.
This latest spill comes even as the city has moved to make emergency repairs to the Hollywood Road facility.
