APD Conducts Internal Investigation After Officer Kicks a K9

The Amarillo Police Department is conducting an internal investigation after an officer kicked his K9.

On December 30 at 12:30 a.m., a K9 unit was called to assist with a stolen vehicle arrest.

Survalence video captured the officer kicking the dog before loading it into the police cruiser.

The video was later uploaded to social media.

The K9 was examined by a veterinarian and found to not have any injuries.

As the investigation continues the dog will be kept in the APD K9 kennel and the officer will not be permitted to report to duty with the dog.
