APD Warning Residents Of A Scam

Amarillo Police say they’ve been made aware of a text message that some people have received claiming the APD is doing an Ugly Christmas Sweater this year.

Public Information Officer, Sergeant Carla Burr says this is a scam, and do not purchase and do not open any links associated with it.

She says if you get texts or e-mails or calls and you’re not sure Do not open, buy or give them any information and call the APD crime prevention unit.

Sergeant Burr also says to contact the Better Business Bureau Bureau and let them know. The Bureau tracks all scams in our area and keeps their website updated regularly.
