Armored Rescue Vehicle Approved During Council Meeting

The Amarillo Police Department has a brand new tool to help keep citizens and first responders safe.
The Amarillo City Council approved the purchase of an armored rescue vehicle that cost approximately $375,000 with the council paying $175,000 of it and the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle covering $200,000.
The 100 Club began campaigning for the vehicle in November 2016 to help raise money before the council approved the purchase Tuesday.

The new vehicle should be making an appearance in 6-8 months.
Suzanne Talley, President of the 100 Club, says membership dues did not go to help fund the vehicle. That money will stay to help fund the families of fallen first responders.
