ASARCO Reaches Agreement On Bonus Pay As Strike Continues

An agreement has been reached in the legal battle between ASARCO and United Steelworkers on bonus pay.

ASARCO stopped paying its worker’s bonuses in 2011 but after a decision by the Supreme Court, the company is now scheduled to make a first-round of payments to all current and former employees dating back to 2011 starting November 6.

This agreement has nothing to do with the current USW strike, that started early in October.

The Amarillo plant is currently shut down due to a lack of a qualified workforce and work has been moved to Arizona plant.
