The Amarillo Police Department has taken a large amount of methamphetamine off the streets.

On September 16th at 6:45 a.m. an APD officer and his K-9 were working near the bus station in Amarillo. 

The dog alerted to possible narcotics in a piece of luggage and after a search,  authorities found four large bundles of methamphetamine weighing 70 pounds, with a street value of around 3 million dollars.

Jeffrey Taylor and Sabra Matson were taken into custody for criminal violations related to narcotics trafficking and illegal drug smuggling.

Both suspects told investigators they were traveling from Phoenix, AZ.

Police continue to investigate this incident.
