Canyon ISD Sets New Rules For Students And Vapes

The Canyon Independent School District is cracking down on students caught carrying a vaping device while on campus

In year’s past, CISD students caught with a vape were given in-school suspension, starting with one day. School officials said that number could increase based on how many times a student got into trouble.

The new district-wide code of conduct states the first time a student is caught with a vaping device on school grounds, it will be taken away and destroyed

If a CISD student is caught with e-cigarette contraband a second time, he or she will receive a disciplinary alternative placement, or DAEP, for 20 days.

The new rules went into effect on the first day of school.

Students were given information during registration, but the district will also host class meetings at the junior high and high school level to remind students of the consequences.
