Citizens To Vote On Property Tax Increase November 2nd

The Amarillo City Council Members held a special meeting Friday to vote on the proposed property tax increase.

With a 4 to 1 vote, that triggers an election to be held on November 2nd for voters to decide on whether to increase it to .48 cents.

The increase would be part of the 19% that residents actually pay from their overall taxes which is 3.5%.

The increase would help budget for 24 Hour Police and Fire protection and equipment, 911 Services, Parks and Recreation, Streets and increased pothole repair, Neighborhood Services, and Planning and Development Services.

If Citizens vote no on the increase it will stay at the current tax rate of .44.
