City Crews Clean Up Spill at Wastewater Collection Facility

The City of Amarillo is confirming a wastewater collection facility spill has been contained.
The spill happened at the gravity main leading to Lift Station #2 east of town due to excessive rain entering the sanitary sewer system through access covers.
The volume of the spill was an estimated 338,000 gallons and was a combination of diluted domestic, commercial and industrial wastewaters.
The City says disinfectant was placed on the spill area and crews are actively cleaning up the spill site.
