City of Amarillo Preparing Roads For Winter Weather

With the area seeing wintery weather this weekend, the City of Amarillo is preparing the roads for drivers.

Director of Public Works Donny Hooper says they will have plows on tandem dump trucks and check all cutting edges on blades and loaders. The night crew will have a 24-hour around-the-clock rotation until the storm has subsided. And, drainage utility will be on stand-by for assistance to the utilities division for main breaks.

City of Amarillo Officials remind residents that the Street Division operates salt sand and snow removal operations on main areas, major intersections and bridges inside the city limits.

The Texas Department of Transportation is responsible for all of I-27 and I-40, in addition to Loop 335, Soncy and downtown major areas from Buchanan to Taylor and for the majority of Amarillo Boulevard.
