City of Canyon Offering Mosquito Prevention Tips

Summer may be coming to a close, but the City of Canyon is still urging residents to help with mosquito prevention.
Canyon staff was notified on Tuesday of a positive West Nile virus test in a mosquito pool found in the area near Paul Lindsey Park in the southeast part of the city, the first positive case within the city limits.
The city is still spraying around town and in parks as well as treating any standing water with larvicide, but officials are giving homeowners tips to do their part.
Things you can do to help with mosquito prevention include draining all standing water, dressing in long sleeves and pants, wearing bug spray with DEET, and well as staying inside at dusk and dawn.
