A  Corrections officer was arrested Sunday after giving an inmate in the Potter County Detention Center a tobacco product.

Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas said the officer, identified as Tracy Montano, was seen bringing the product into the Center and giving it to an inmate.

Montano was immediately fired and arrested, then booked into the jail on a charge of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility, a third-degree felony.

The inmate who received the substance, Matthew Wayne Austin, was also given the same charge.
