Council Discusses Proposed Speed Limit Change On Soncy Road/Loop 335

During Tuesday Council Meeting, Members discussed a possible ordinance change regarding speed limits on Soncy Road and Loop 335.
The Texas Department of Transportation says many residents and business owners on this road have requested slower speed limits since the area has grown over the years.
The proposal includes going from 50mph to 40 mph from Amarillo Boulevard to I-40, 45pmh to 40mph from I-40 to 45th, 50mph to 40mph from 34th to just passed 45th, and 60mph to 50 mph from just south of 45th to Coulter street and Hollywood Road.
Other traffic factors up for discussion include installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Soncy and Perry in 2021.
