Daylight Savings Time to Check Smoke Detectors

With daylight savings time ending on Sunday, the Amarillo Fire Department wants to remind everyone that this is a good time to check or replace the batteries in their smoke detectors.

A smoke alarm can warn you of a fire when you are asleep, busy, or when you are in a different part of the house.

In most structure fire fatalities people die from smoke inhalation rather than the flames.
