The US Department of Energy has awarded Guymon over $67 million in grant investments for water and economic development projects.

The grants are part of the Transmission Siting and Economic Development program.

The Department of Energy says the program invests $760 million in transmission projects and supports economic development projects in communities impacted by transmission construction and operation.

The Department awarded $17.65 million for Guymon’s Mesa Water Project.

Grants will address water scarcity and water infrastructure in Guymon. The project will include groundwater modeling, well design and infrastructure, assessments and system commissioning.

It will also allow for $50 million for Guymon’s school district for the community’s role in the Three Corners Connector transmission line.

The Guymon School District will construct a new junior high school and workforce development center.

The new school will include an outdoor environmental science classroom and a specialized STEM lab for students
