The Center City of Amarillo board of directors presented an $8,000 façade grant to the Downtown Women’s Center stores at 10th and Adams during a ceremony on Wednesday.
The building at 10th and Adams was a beauty supply store for many years. The Downtown Women’s Center has given it a new life. The building now houses Thrift City and the Uptown Shoppe. These thrift shops provide employment as well as being a way for consumers to save money.
Funds from the facade grant helped the Downtown Women’s Center repaint the iconic building and restore its façade.
Since 1996, Center City has invested more than $1.4 million in façade grants in downtown.
