Early Morning Fire At Family Support Services Downtown Office

The Amarillo Fire Department was called out Sunday morning to a blaze at Family Support Services in downtown Amarillo.

Crews arrived at 1001 Polk Street to find Family Support Services’ main office and the Veterans Resource Center fully involved.

As of noon Sunday, Captain Kyle Joy of the AFD  said that crews continue to battle the fire in a defensive position, limiting the spread of the blaze to surrounding structures

Family Support Services says in a statement that they are grateful to the Amarillo Fire Department and that No one was in the building. They are already working to secure places where we can serve our clients..

The building’s phone system is down at the time, but there is an emergency line for the Crisis Hotline. For domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking you can call (806) 654-7979.
